Halfway to the grave. A Night Huntress Novel by Jeaniene Frost. Book #1

I thought the beginning was a little slow, but the further I got into it, the better it got. Like all books, this book will NOT be everyone's cup of tea, but it will definitely appeal to a wide range of the urban fantasy fans. The main character, Cat, is a potty-mouthed, modern, real-world heroine who kicks ass and has attitude to boot. Bones is a smart-ass and just plain old sexy. If you're an avid reader of urban fantasy who likes a leading lady who doesn't sit there and twiddle her thumbs, but actually gets out there and does what she needs to, then this series is for you. If you read this book, and think it's ho-hum, read the next one, because the books just keep getting better and better.

Silver Borne. A Mercy Thompson novel by Patricia Briggs. Book #5

Mercy may be a mechanic and have tattoos, but she’s still a woman. She can kick ass, and wear a dress at the same time. While a lot of it seems contradictory, it all pulls together and works for her, in a wild, messy sort of way.

When Phin, a bookstore owner turns up missing, Mercy, a half Native-American Skinwalker figures out it’s got something to do with a powerful old book he lent her (in Book #4).

Mercy the mechanic goes on a mega-mission, this time to find out what happened to the bookstore owner. All while trying to figure out what to do with the book. When the bad guys come after Mercy, she’s on a timeline to save the day.

Silver Borne is a fast-paced action packed book that has left me no doubt as to why this is one of my favourite series to read.
